Ep. 105: Intrusive thoughts about hurting someone while driving | Hit and Run OCD

The Restored Minds Show with Matt Codde LCSW - Ein Podcast von Matthew Codde LCSW

In this episode, we are going to talk about how to deal with intrusive thoughts related to hurting someone while driving. This is often referred to as a sub-type of OCD called hit-and-run OCD. When a person experiences Hit-and-Run OCD they will have intrusive or unwanted thoughts about hurting other people while driving, and then engaging in various compulsive behaviors (mental and physical) to neutralize these fears. As a reminder, intrusive thoughts are unwanted notions and ideas that invade a person’s mind and cause a great deal of distress. These thoughts are invasive and unwelcomed and are not a reflection of the person’s true desires or wishes. In this episode, we are going to discuss the strategies and tactics that can be used in dealing with Hit and Run OCD.
