The show is about exploring and understanding the mind-body connection. My practice focuses on emotional problems causing physical problems and vice versa. I deal with mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, ADD/ADHD, eating disorders, OCD, and various other mental health issues. At the same time I also focus on physical symptoms that all people back and that prevent them from feeling their best. These types of symptoms would include headaches, neck and back pain, joint pains and body pain such as fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, insomnia, as well as other painful or other physical symptoms. My focus is on treating the whole person and getting people feeling their best such as back to their old selves or even better than that. I also focus on helping them achieve healthy lifestyle habits in order to be their best selves. Show number one: in my opening podcast I told my story starting from when I was a little boy and how I came to bear the nickname Dr. Paul. I discuss my journey from Ben and my interests in elementary school, how I decided to go into college as a biology major premed, my inspirations along the way, how I decided in medical school to go into family practice, then how I came to a lot of understandings and revelations during the first years of my practice which then developed into a full psychiatric practice over the last 20 years of my 30 year practice. I discussed the aha moments which led to me moving my practice in a different direction of dealing with not only physical issues but also emotional problems and understanding how they connect. I told my story from the beginning until now and the defining moments along the way. Show number two: in this episode I discuss the stigma of mental health. I address this early because this is a significant factor that stands in people's way from getting the help that they need. There is unfortunately a significant stigma regarding mental health issues that should not be. I stressed the importance of mental health being the same as physical health since the brain is a very vital organ of the body. Having mental health issues is not due to a weakness in character or lack of will but is rather a medical problem that can be treated in medical ways. It is important that an individual not succumb to the stigma which can lead to people getting stuck with no hope when proper treatment is readily available. The Dr Paul Show
