My Mom’s 3,000 Mile Drive: Jackie Hughes

This episode honors the mom figures in our lives who inspire or encourage our dreams of road travel by paying tribute to one mom in particular: our host Laura Borichevsky’s mom, Jackie Hughes. Before #vanlife… before Instagram… before she could even drive: Laura’s belief in her ability to do road travel was shaped by her mom’s experience driving across the country when she was in her early twenties, and it stuck with her because Jackie’s journey was full of purpose, bravery, and quite a bit of fun packed into a handful of days and a tiny 1975 Camaro.

Do you want to diversify your perspective on road travel?  Host Noami Grevemberg dives deep into the stories and weaves through the challenges, journeys and inspirations of the diverse voices who, often unheard, make the nomadic community great. Noami is a Black woman and a nomad who has been living in her campervan since 2016. She started Diversify Vanlife in 2019 in response to the lack of representation of BIPOC in the road travel community. In this show, you’ll hear from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and other underrepresented travelers at the many crossroads of the modern nomadic movement.
