Amy J. Wilson: Empathy for Change

Amy J. Wilson highlights within this episode of the "Whole Health Series" a transformative definition of empathy for today's leaders; makes the distinction between being empathetic, an empath, and a highly sensitive person; and emphasizes the importance of leading with empathy, self-awareness, and whole health self-care to co-create the future we all need and desire. In her debut book, Empathy for Change, Amy inspires readers to embrace kindness to enrich the world. Her book became a best-seller even before it officially launched! I absolutely love it and highly recommend it. Amy masterfully weaves together analysis of challenges and transitions our society, economy, and earth are experiencing at a high level and she deep dives into the very personal level of how each leader today needs to care for her/him/their self in order to have the capacity to lead with compassion, kindness, and empathy. Amy courageously shares personal stories and examples of other change agents who exemplify the leadership our world needs. Amy J. Wilson is a change leader, community builder, movement maker, and an empathy advocate. As the Founder and CEO of Empathy for Change, she shifts power to change leaders to create more understanding one person, team, and organization at a time. She is a Tech Policy Fellow at the Aspen Institute, a policy entrepreneur developing outside-of-the-box approaches to society’s problems. Amy served for three years as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, where she created a shared language and led a movement for innovation and change in government. Her journey started in AmeriCorps, leading a project to rebuild 50 homes in four months in the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. She was a chief architect of Booz Allen Hamilton’s Building a Culture of Innovation movement, which transformed the 100-year old firm. In her debut book, Empathy for Change, she inspires us to embrace kindness to enrich the world.
