Will Duffin and Luca Carenzo: How Extreme Medicine has prepared me for the frontline

What lessons can we take from extreme medicine to the frontline of the pandemic?  Luca Carenzo, WEM Faculty and Intensive Care Consultant working in Milan, joins us to discuss his experience over the last few months as COVID19 sweeps across Italy.  Alongside WEM Education Lead Will Duffin, Luca reflects on his time working in a trauma centre in Yemen during the civil war and the challenges faced, including stress and burnout, when working in high pressure environments.  Luca also describes his experience of working as an Intensive Care Consultant at the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in Italy - considering how the Italian health system has redesigned itself, coping with grief and relatives, and crucially, what tools he has gained from being an extreme medic that have helped him practice extreme medicine on his doorstep.  Listen, watch and let us know your thoughts!    Luca will be presenting at the World Extreme Medicine 2020 Conference > https://www.extrememedicineexpo.com
