Osterley House: East India Company at Home

The interior design of Osterley Park and House in West London make it a well known British neoclassical architectural gem. But the collections of objects, which reveal the house's connection to global trade in the 18th and 19th centuries, are being examined in The East India Company at Home, 1757-1857 (EICAH). A 3-year research project based in UCL's Department of History, the EICAH project examines the British country house in an imperial and global context. 27 July - 3 November, 2013: The Trappings of Trade is a new display at Osterley exploring how the East India Company shaped Osterley and the country houses of Britain in the eighteenth century. Robert Adam may have remodelled the house but the East India Company shaped its interiors with stunning decorative items.
