It’s Ambedkar Jayanti today & our guest is special, the charming  & articulate Shukla Bose, Founder-CEO Parikrma Humanity Foundation.  Shukla is bridging the growing gap in urban India between those who benefit from economic liberalisation and those who don’t – through Parikrma Humanity Foundation, a non-government organisation founded in 2003. Her professional work spans over 26 years in the hospitality sector and over 19 years in social reform, education advocacy, and the social sector. A TED speaker, she was also awarded the Pride of Karnataka Roundtable International in 2015.  Current involvements: Shukla has been shaping and influencing education policies at the State and National levels. She was a member of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC) - headed by Dr. K Kasturirangan. She is an academy Member at HundrED, Finland, and is currently (2022) one of the Advisors in the National Focus Group, working on a chartered school governance and leadership plan.  Bose works with the Karnataka State Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and IQ Education Excellence Task Force to check on the quality of education. A national CII Education Committee member, Shukla, helps draft the national policy for schools. She is on the board of a few private and public sector organisations for the prevention of sexual harassment of women in the workplace. She continues to publish peer-reviewed papers in conferences and international journals.  Past work experiences: Shukla was with the Oberoi hospitality group for 13 years and was the CEO of RCI for 11 years. She volunteered with Mother Teresa for seven years. Her experience with slum and street children greatly encouraged her to make the development of under-served children her mission in life.  Awards and recognition: Shukla was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1995, the Bharat Gaurav Award in 1996, and the Woman of the Year Award in 2000.  She received the Pride of Karnataka Award from Roundtable International in 2015 and was nominated as a Bangalore Hero in a Bangalore Mirror in 2014. Other recognitions include the Qimpro Platinum Standard Award in Education (2017), Women Achievers Award (2018) from FICCI-FLO.  Times Power Women Award (2019). She was recognized for her contribution to the education of the poor by the Save Government Schools initiative (2019). She was awarded the International Excellence Award for Education Development from the Global Achievers Foundation, the Parivathan Inspire Awards for Women and child development in 2019, and the ‘Work of Wonder’ by WoW Skin Science, celebrating those who work towards bringing a change in society, 2021.
