Ruth Ribeaucourt - Magazine Owner & Editor-in-Chief

Ruth spent the first decade of her career as an international publicist and talent handler for Walt Disney Studios, but in 2010, she gave it up for a slower life in a medieval village in Provence, France. In the years since, she cultivated a life filled with making, creating and collaborating. It all began when she launched her jewellery line in 2010, creating pieces using antique textiles sourced from designers and makers all over the world. As her network of contacts grew, she was commissioned to photograph and write stories of creatives all across Europe for publications like Where Women Create, What Women Create, My French Country Home and Quilt Mania. In 2019, Ruth also founded Forage, Feast, Photography, a series of international creative retreats designed to bring people together through storytelling, food and photography. In 2020, Ruth was invited to create and guest-edit a special issue of What Women Create. The issue focused on the idea of slowing down and healing through creativity. “This is it,” she remembers thinking while working on the issue. She had found her passion: giving creatives a platform and a voice. FAIRE, which has just launched, is just that: a platform through which to share the intimate and honest stories of creatives’ lives. RUTH’S EPISODE “AM I GOING TO BANKRUPT MY FAMILY? MAYBE, BUT HOPEFULLY NOT” Well … where to start summarising this episode? There is SO much information that Ruth shares with us it feels wrong to distill it into a couple of ‘enticing’ paragraphs but here goes: Ruth is the absolute embodiment of a “restless creative'‘, with a seemingly impossible number of projects on the go at any one time. She shares how some incredibly beautiful ribbon samplers, made by her husband’s family for almost 200 years, introduced her to a whole world of beauty that she never knew existed and led her down a path of storytelling and textile heritage. Her love of sharing women’s stories in particular prompted her ultimately to create a new magazine, Faire Press, where she shares, in detail and at length ‘honest, intimate stories of creatives and how they find their voice’. She throws out the rule book for what a magazine ‘should’ look like and allows the stories of the creatives shine and have their moment. There are so many fabulous back stories of how Ruth has arrived where she is now, all of which will have you laughing out loud, you will really see why she has embraced story telling, she’s an absolute natural. We’ve included links below to places, people and things mentioned during our chat including where you can get your copy of Issue One of the magazine - we’ll let you search for topless Harry Styles yourself!
