Plato and Socrates Part 4: The Republic (III-IV)

We will move on to the next two volumes of the Republic (the 3rd and the 4th).  Continuing the talk about Plato's ideal city, Socrates, Glaucon and Adeimantus pick up on the question of how to educate. In this episode, we will talk about Art, Music, Poetry, Greek Mythology and how social hierarchy is installed within the very definition of society. We will also discuss what makes a just society and how we can compare the qualities present in such a society to those qualities present in a just person's soul. I will also point out major foreshadowings and connect these dialogues with society of today. By the end of this episode, we would have understood Plato's definition of Wisdom, Courage, Temperance and ultimately, Justice.   Music Credits: https://www.instagram.com/prodbypappiii/ Artwork Credits: Medha Trivedi and https://www.instagram.com/mercuryprobe/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thephilosophyjunkie/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThePhilJunkie Website: https://www.thephilosophyjunkie.com Support the show (https://patreon.com/thephilosophyjunkie)
