You might recognise actress, founder and philanthropist Shay Mitchell from her role in 2018’s most binge-worthy Netflix show, You. She originally rose to fame as one of the leads in the ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars, and has since taken on a number of roles, including Dollface’s Stella.Acting’s not her only talent. On top of running a lifestyle-focused YouTube channel, Shay is the founder and chief brand officer of travel and lifestyle accessory brand BÉIS. As a frequent traveller, Shay recognised the struggle of finding sturdy, reliable luggage that doesn’t offend the eyes – so she decided to make it herself. BÉIS launched in 2018 and has since experienced a growth rate of more than 200%, in no small part down to the work of Shay herself. She describes herself as a hands-on founder, and has been involved in every aspect of the business since day one.As a philanthropist, she’s partnered with charities tackling sex trafficking and high suicide rates in the LGBT community, and engages in ongoing work with WE Charity.With an Instagram following of almost 28 million and a YouTube following of more than four million, Shay knows a thing or two about building a brand.
