On Saturday afternoon, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will touch down in Beijing for an official visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. It’s the first time in six years that an Australian leader has travelled to China, and an important symbolic step in the defrosting of China-Australia relations, after they entered a deep freeze, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
