In this episode of season 3, we interview Sara Lind, a candidate for City Council on the Upper Westside of Manhattan and the Interim Executive Director of 21 in '21, an organization dedicated to electing at least 21 women to the City Council in 2021. Sara has worked on several campaigns in her career- always for women candidates - and has managed organizing work around Ranked Choice Voting. She is an active member of her local community, serving on the Community Board, the School Leadership Team at PS166, and a neighborhood liaison to the police department. Sara lives with her husband, two kids, and more pets than is reasonable for a Manhattan apartment! What unique challenges do female political candidates face today? Why do we need more women in politics? What impact do local elections make in furthering social change? How can we be best informed leading up to election day? Will the U.S. ever have a female president? These questions and more will be explored in this latest encouraging and empowering episode. *Please note, Iridescent Women does not endorse political candidates or political parties, but we do advocate for you to educate yourself and get out there and vote!
