Thank you Jake Maxwell for being part of today's EcDev Clubhouse Convo and providing insights on Talent and Traning. Some tidbits from Ryan Hamadeh: 1. Communities should move upstream and target high school students; preparing high school students early on and aligning them to industry is important - If they show their value and commitment to companies while in school, they might convince them to pay for their university tuition. 2. Micro credentials are booming; the importance is the accreditation and ensuring that it serves industry. Micro credentials are low cost, relevant and quick to adapt. 3. Make sure to penetrate the K-12 program and get industry involved with schools; faculty and curriculum should be nimble enough to adapt to industry. 4. Apprenticeship programs train and pay at the same time, they educate, ensure employment and also pay; can't get better than that. Apprenticeships are not only in manufacturing but also involved in R&D training --> Biotech. 5. There is a major issue with post-secondary institutions; they do not prepare students sufficiently for the workforce, they're expensive and time consuming. Change is imminent. 6. New KPI metrics should be adopted including community participation and upward mobility. These are raw, uncut and unedited recordings. Think of them as unplugged. These podcasts are not about production values, but about the content of the conversations. We hope you enjoy.
