Dan Taylor, Bob Minhas and Lara Fritts, host a twice weekly clubhouse call focused on Economic Development.  The call is for those interested in Community and  Economic Development. This includes elected officials, economic development & tourism professionals, businesses and community members. Each week Bob, Dan and Lara feature a different theme. Give it a listen, there are some great discussions on "Fact, Fiction and Story Telling" from Seasoned Economic Developers. Summary Notes by Ryan Hamadeh. Thank you to Maureen Donohue Krauss, Barry Matherly and Clarence L. Hulse for sharing your Economic Development stories in today's Clubhouse Convo. Our speakers spoke about their experiences as economic developers; we listened to their enriching paths and learned from their advise. My takeaways: 1. There are multiple paths to EcDev; commonalities include love for: helping the community, public policy, business process. 2. Maureen Donohue Krauss would advise to be initiated to EcDev through local community work. Locals are the final decision makers and smaller communities offer a wide scope into the field. 3. Covid learnings: communities with strong BRE networks were resilient; Econ. developers had to adapt to technology and the virtual world. 4. Data points do not make sense by themselves, they offer perspective only within a storyline. One data point offers multiple perspectives. 5. Virtual Site Selection helps us include key decision makers early on in the process. 6. Pieces of advise: be a lifelong learner; know your customer and partners; take time off; find a mentor; learn emotional intelligence. These are raw, uncut and unedited recordings. Think of them as unplugged. These podcasts are not about production values, but about the content of the conversations. We hope you enjoy.
