Crazy Eddie: Biggest Fraud in America — Gary Weiss

Subscribe to Charles' Alpha Investor newsletter today: https://pro.banyanhill.com/m/2054150He was known to millions as Crazy Eddie. Eddie Antar turned a tiny Brooklyn store into the largest electronics retailer. In the 1970s and 1980s, his commercials were everywhere. “Crazy Eddie! His prices are insaaaaane!" They were even spoofed on Saturday Night Live. But Crazy Eddie’s success was a fraud from day one. In fact, before Enron, Madoff, and The Wolf of Wall Street, Antar's corruption was second to none. When it was uncovered, it turned out to be one of the largest SEC frauds in American history. I recently sat down with Gary Weiss, author of Retail Gangster: The Insane, Real-Life Story of Crazy Eddie. What Weiss told me affirms the old adage that truth is often stranger than fiction.Topics Discussed: An Introduction to Gary Weiss (00:00:00)Who’s Crazy Eddie? Om Podcasten

I’m Charles Mizrahi. I currently write Alpha Investor — one of America’s fastest-growing investment publications — and have had nearly 40 years of experience as a floor trader, hedge fund manager and money manager on Wall Street. In fact, I was once named the No. 1 trader in the nation by Barron’s. But the story of my rise through the ranks is about more than just success — it’s about achieving the American Dream. You see, I didn’t grow up wealthy. But I did grow up with the belief that America was the greatest nation on earth — a land of freedom and opportunity. And right now, I’m on a mission to prove that it still is. Although we’re constantly being told by the media that America’s best days are behind her … I know the opposite to be true. That’s exactly why I started Real Talk: The Charles Mizrahi Show. With this podcast, I want to help you — and as many other Americans as possible — rekindle the American Dream and realize that we, the people, have everything we need to get ourselves back on track. Each episode features in-depth conversations with high-profile guests who share their own unique American Dream stories, and their views on the current state of our nation. I’ll also share with you my passion for teaching everyday people how to prosper through America’s greatest wealth creator: the stock market. Because I believe we all have a patriotic duty to give back to this country — which has done so much for us.
