When wedding planners put down the clipboard and join the wedding party! Christy is moonlighting as MAID OF HONOR for her best friend and it’s weird to be on the other side of things. In this episode, Michelle and Christy talk MOH duties, dresses, and standing up for your girl when you don’t live anywhere near her. Big Takeaways What does the MOH take on, typically? Listen and learn. The job of Maid of Honor starts the day you accept the job. Embrace it! It’s an honor to be a Maid of Honor, for sure. But it’s also expensive! A MOH spends money on a dress, travel, hosting showers and bachelorette parties, a gift, maybe hair and makeup… Remember - this means a lot to your dear friend, so our advice is - suck it up, buttercup. And we say that lovingly. Giving a toast - this is a big one. There are no rules for exactly who gives a toast anymore...but at almost every wedding the MOH and the Best Man give toasts during the reception. Christy is working on her toast now...keeping notes as they occur to her on her phone. The Bride is the center of attention on the wedding day. So if you aren’t in love with your dress - whether you got to pick it or not - don’t sweat it. It’s not about you! Christy’s dress compliments her best friend’s wedding dress. And that is the way it should be! Another job of the MOH is to keep the bride relaxed, and to run interference on any family drama. The biggest part of the job is loving and supporting the bride! Ultimately I think it will be a bunch of ladies in dresses getting tossed at 11:00 in the morning. But in that hammered state, we will drop some serious wisdom.” - Christy, on her bridal shower vision “The more you drink, the better advice you give. Let’s be honest.” - Michelle, speaking the truth, as we do “I am going to have to practice the toast a LOT so I don’t ugly cry...I’ll definitely cry.” - Christy, such a big baby Get In Touch Let us know if you have any questions you need answered on the show or if you want to share your own wedding planning experiences!
