Todays guest is British Olympic Athlete Amy Eloise Markovc. Born in Stockport, Markovc moved to the United States with her parents at the age of two to live in Snohomish - a town named after a native American settlement. Located an hour north of Seattle, it became her home and where she fell in love with running at the age of six, later saying “it was always running for me, even from a young age”. She went on to earn a track and field scholarship to the nearby University of Washington, spending five years there honing her talent while visiting family in England during holidays. Since then, Markovc secured her first national podium at the 2019 British Indoor Athletics Championships in the 3,000m but her big breakthrough came at the beginning of 2021. She broke the British two-mile record at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in New York before winning the 3,000m at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in a new PB time.
