Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing

Today, I want to talk about a sentence that has stuck with me since I was a teenager. I grew up in church and I remember having a guest pastor come and speak. His name was Peter Lord (literally had to text me mom and ask her to remind me because for the life of me, I couldn’t remember.) And in one of his sermons he said “you have to keep the main thing the main thing”. I have never forgotten that simple sentence. You have to keep the main thing the main thing. In our walk with God, we have to remember to keep the main thing the main thing. And the main thing is God. The main thing is not us. We are not the main characters in this story. We are role players. It’s not that we are not important to God. He loves us so much, He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins. Oh we are so important to Him. But, we are not the main thing. God is the main thing. And in everything we do, we have to keep the main thing the main thing. We have to keep God the priority. Our actions should be for God first. Our thoughts should please God first. Our prayers should praise and honor God, first. But, as humans full of sin and fault, we can lose sight of keeping the main thing the main thing, can we not? We can fall into this cycle of being a part time Christian but fully expecting God to be for us full time. Our prayers become all about “give me give me give me” and never once even thinking about having gratitude. We talk how we want to talk. Dress how we want to dress. Say what we want to say. Do what we want to do. And we can get so comfortable, we forget to keep the main thing the main thing. Work with me // https://msha.ke/val_reynoldsConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // [email protected]: https://www.purple-planet.comSupport the showWork with me // www.valreynolds.comConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // [email protected]
