Troubled times ahead for the forest industry in Tasmania as woodchip orders are put on hold

Tasmanian Country Hour - Ein Podcast von ABC Radio

One of Tasmania's big timber processors Forico says the next six months will be tough for the timber industry after shiploads of woodchip orders were cancelled. Bryan Hayes from Forico says the COVIFD-19 pandemic has caused a big drop in production in many overseas countries which used the woodchip in their processes. He says the problem will flow down to forest contractors who will have to more than halve their cutting down of plantation logs because of the current stockpile.
