Entering her teens, she has a fearsome reputation on the streets, where she is active with gang members doing home invasions and robberies.  After her friend’s phone gets stolen at a party, Nawal insists on searching everyone. Some of the girls refuse to be searched and in a fight Nawal and her two friends get the best of six girls. After the fight reignites, Nawal stabs one of the girls. She is sentenced to 21 months for GBH. Her family sends her to Somali and Kenya, hoping to calm her down. During a civil war in Somalia, she witnesses family members getting shot. Running around with the wrong crowd is fun at first, but gets too dangerous when her associates start beheading people.  Due to her misbehaviour, her family sends her to a boarding school in Kenya, which secretly is a religious extremist house of horrors as the girls (including minors) are tortured, whipped and sexually assaulted. With all communication with the outside world monitored, Nawal employs a strategy of complying with her captors to earn her freedom. Having endured two years of torture, including whippings that have injured her for life, she returns to London. Resolving to stay away from crime, she starts a YouTube channel. The Nawal Show showcases her stories and she interviews other females, including survivors of the boarding school.
