Are You in an Addictive Relationship?

Self-Care for Extremely Busy Women - Ein Podcast von Suzanne Falter

I begin today’s show with a blog I first published… oh, maybe back in 2013? It’s called How to Stop Having Same Old Problems… and it’s about exactly that. Yeah, okay. It took me a major life crisis to move past some of the old detritus. But must it always take a crisis? I share thoughts on how to weave your way past the roadblocks and problems you’re just sick to death of having.   And on to relationships!   My guest this week is Shena Lashey, host of the Black Girls Heal podcast and a coach, brings us some really good insight about the nature of addictive relationships. I learned all about the fraught give and take between love avoidants and love addicts… and I hope you will, too.   We talked about:   -       How her own relationships showed her what was needed -       What love addiction has to do with trauma -       How love avoidants can’t resist love addicts and vice versa -       How systemic racism contributes to the trauma for women of color -       What to do about it, and how Shena works with her clients   Shena’s perspective is warm, real and wise… I hope you love this chat as  much as I did.   Love,   Suzanne       RESOURCES   Suzanne’s blog, How to Stop Having the Same Old Problems   Free Spirited; How My Daughter Healed Me From the Afterlife   Shena Lashey’s podcast Black Girls Heal   Shena Lashey’s website, coaching, etc.     OUR GUEST Shena Lashey is host of the Black Girls Heal podcast, and a former Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in helping women heal from unresolved childhood trauma wounds, break free of addictive relationships, compulsive sexual patterns, intimacy disorders, and build a healthy sense of self-worth and value.
