JUST LIFE - Alastair Emblem - Half a Century of ADoRE (Part 2)

Radio Maria England - Ein Podcast von Radio Maria England

Alastair Emblem lives in St Joan of Arc parish, Farnham, Surrey. Since early 2018, Alastair has been the Core Group Leader of the Alton day of renewal which is a monthly meeting of the Catholic charismatic renewal formed 50 years ago this year (2025), and known affectionately as ADoRE. It’s one of the longest continually-running Charismatic Days of Renewal in Britain. Alastair has been Worship Leader at ADoRE meetings since 2014, and we have recordings of him singing songs during each programme. He’s actually been involved with the renewal since 1983 and with ADoRE since 2007. Alastair is author of Pray as you can't - step by step into a more fruitful prayer life. In the first programme, Alastair describes how, in response to a papal request no less, the Holy Spirit was poured out on Christians at the start of the last century. He charts the progress of the Catholic charismatic renewal, including its coming to Britain. Alastair also talks about Alton Day of Renewal, which celebrates 50 years in 2025. In the second programme, Alastair tells listeners how to respond to the Holy Spirit's call, he brings us up to date on what the Holy Spirit is doing in the modern church, and describes the new challenges of an era in great need of evangelisation. Key websites for both programmes are Charis UK and Alton Day of Renewal. Through the latter site, you can find out about the group's online and in-person meetings and access the YouTube channel which contains teachings and worship-resources.
