Musician, writer and podcaster John Roderick is our guest for episode 10 of season two. John was part of the music scene in Seattle during the '90s, while Elliott Smith was making a name for himself in nearby Portland. He saw Elliott play numerous times and admired the way he was able to carve his own sound, which was distinctive from a lot of other artists in the Pacific Northwest at the time. In this interview, John discusses the song that really cemented that admiration for Elliott's music, what it was like watching him live and why he has what he calls a 'complicated' relationship with him. To round this all off, our listener pick today comes from musician Tom Lee from Leeds in the UK.
