Early in my career, I told a consultant that one of the things I wanted most in my business was that I wanted my team to like and and to be close to my team members. He told me I was looking for validation from my team, and it is a dangerous place to be as a entrepreneur. If your focus is on how much your team likes you rather than on the impact your team is helping your create, you are seeking validation from the wrong place. Instead, the numbers and metrics from your business will validate the contribution you are making.
