077: Your Story Is Crap

Meredyth with a Why - Ein Podcast von Meredyth Willits - Dienstags

We create stories in your heads all the time. When something doesn’t go the way we thought it would, our brains fill in holes whether or not we have all the facts. We project our emotions and assumptions onto others. We try to control what we simply cannot. In today’s episode, I’m talking about why these stories that we make up are rooted in our own emotions and not based in reality. I’m sharing why it’s important to put these stories in the past, to focus on only what we can control, and moving forward on your own terms. It’s time to stop dredging up the pain of stories that you’ve created in your head and making assumptions about the actions of others. Your story has helped get you where you are today, but it doesn’t define you.  When you stop infusing stories with pain and anger and fear, you can start living your life with the excitement, love, and creativity that exists inside of you. What’s in this episode: Why we create stories in our heads when things don’t go how we thought they would How making excuses for people is not based in reality and only brings about resentment Why we need to stop carrying these made up stories around Why we remember our reactions to things more than we remember the thing itself Releasing what we don’t have control over Why you should put down stories that don’t define you or serve you anymore The importance of focusing on your life moving forward For full show notes, resources, and links, head to: https://www.meredythwillits.com/podcast Are you ready to go deeper?
