The family that plays together may (or may not) stay together

Most bands end up being a little like a family, starting out with masses of love and good will and shared commitment and sometimes finishing up with feuds and fallings out and no-one sending anyone Christmas cards anymore. Some bands, however, actually are family – related by blood or marriage as well as shared musical interests. The Seventies had some fabulous musical families releasing some timeless and classic tracks for our listening pleasure. Some of these families stayed together and made sweet, sweet music for many years, while for others making music ended up exacerbating their differences and creating bitter discord. This week, Marty and Venetia reap the rewards from what were perhaps only brief periods of musical and familial harmony and share with you some of their favourite tracks from family acts. And goodness what rewards there are…

Were you born in the Seventies? Join us for the sounds of the 70s every Saturday morning. Martin and Venetia will take you to the decade of denim flares, burnt orange kitchen benchtops and the birth of disco and glam rock! Each week we'll have a 70's theme that we'll explore, such as songs from disaster movies, movement anthems, one-hit wonders, daggy duets, funky numbers, and disco tracks that steamed up the dance floor in many an LGBTI venue, to name just a few. The 70s produced some amazing music and we're here to make sure that music is shared and never lost. NOTE: Due to music licencing requirements this podcast is unavailable outside of Australia.
