Myth #3 in our series is centered around the idea that if we feel our emotions- then they will take over.  💥Do you remember the analogy of the beach ball? The analogy goes that if your emotions are like the beach ball, it doesn't work to try to hold them down under the water. In fact when we do that, it takes so much effort to hold it down that eventually the ball [emotions] ineveitably come out.  Not feeling our emotions- is actually what is creating more of the take over affect. When we try to keep them at bay, they become so powerful that we react in ways we don't necessarily desire.  Instead, we want to learn how to allow that beach ball or our emotions, to just float out on top. This way it doesn't take over, we aren't having to react to it, and we get to enjoy our experience.  Many times the reasons why we don't allow those emotions is because they feel so big and powerful. I call these secondary emotions. They are covering up the primary/raw emotions that don't feel as powerful. Learning to allow the primary emotions, will in turn help us to keep our emotions from taking over and also keep ourselves from exhausting our emotions away.  Listen today to learn how to allow that beach ball of emotions to sit on top and how to allow those primary emotions.  🔗You can get the  show notes here
