When someone you love has cancer, offer what you do best. Listen. No matter what, don’t flee. Cancer isn’t contagious, but fear is. Don’t scare the cancer patient with horror stories about people who didn’t make it. The person you love is very much alive, and just happens to have cancer. Be present with them and stay present for the long haul, no matter how long it lasts.
