It’s our first ever episode and we are starting with the explosive and institution-fearing Oprah Winfrey interview with Harry and Meghan. We take a deep-dive into the themes that was spoken about these include: 00:00 - Introduction and welcome 5:34 - ‘The Institution’ versus The Family’ We discuss whether the Royal family should have stepped in when Harry and Meghan needed help rather than sticking to the Institutional framework of the Monarchy. Michelle talks about the Duty and what that actually means for the Windsors. 18:26- Race We discuss questions such as: Are the Royal family racist? Who did ask about Archie’s skin colour? Could the Institution have prevented the racism that Meghan endured in the tabloids? 27:13 - Mental Health We talk about Meghan’s mental health and her courage speaking about her suicidal thoughts and not getting the support she needed. This is the real question, why didn’t the Institution back Meghan and change the tabloid narrative? We have decided to split this discussion about the Oprah Interview into part one and part two.
