In this episode I speak to Alex da Silva about his addiction story in all forms. From Food, to alcohol, sex and drugs Alex was born in Brazil and came to the UK at the age of 11 without speaking the language. Alex has faced a lot of challenges over the years, including abuse, bullying and anxiety throughout childhood always feeling like he was not good enough, and in adult life has experienced mental health and addiction problems. Today, recovered he is the founder of the Happy As Larry Group, the happiness company specialising in emotional recovery, who's mission is help change the world, one person at a time. In the uk suicide is currently the biggest killer in men under the age of 45. In a society that has always taught men not to appear weak, we now are seeing a pivotal cultural shift and a lot of discussion around redefining masculinity. Men such as Lewis Howes, Robert Webb and Justin Baldoni are just some of the big names in the public eye that are at the forefront of this conversation. The biggest thing I took away was that we ALL need to look at ways we can take care of our emotional health and emotional recovery and having an open conversation is a great way to start.
