Check out these resources to help you with your money journey About My name is Christina Day and I’m a 40 something divorced woman, and mom to a preteen boy. This is my starting point. Beyond that, I’m also a burnt-out but still practicing ER nurse. I (mostly) love my job, but I also realized that I enjoy helping people AVOID those ER visits even more. Cue health and life coaching and my self-improvement journey. Preventative health became a passion of mine (even more so when I hit my 40s and realized my body was needing some help), as is living the best life possible. This looks different for everyone, but for me, this means living debt-free, making lifestyle choices that will allow me to age gracefully and avoid disease as much as possible, and have time and energy to devote to my family and friends. Throw in a vacation a year, and I’m truly happy with my life. I started my career in nursing, bought a house with the guy I will later marry, got married, had a baby. I was sleep deprived as a new mom, then stressed out as a not quite so new mom. My married life was suffering, and I just wasn’t happy. Don’t get me wrong, things LOOKED great from the outside, but I knew that the status quo just wasn’t good enough for me anymore. So what was? I had no idea. All I knew was that my then-current situation was not working. I went on a soul searching journey, almost got separated, we thought we could work on things, then 2 years later separated for good and then got divorced. Here’s what I learned during these last few years. I learned how to take care of my finances. While I was married, I let him take the reigns because he seemed to know what he was doing. “Seemed to” being the key word here. It wasn’t until after my separation that I realized how wrong I was about that. Fast forward to budgeting apps, living debt free, smart investments, and a higher credit score, and not buying things just because they are on sale. I learned how to make healthy food choices most of the time (I will always have a sweet tooth and an appreciation of wine, and I’m ok with that). I learned what kind of exercise regime works for me (nope, it’s definitely not the gym). I learned what I want out of a relationship, and not to settle for “good enough”. I learned that I deserve f*cking amazing, and I’m ok to wait until I find that. I learned that yoga is good for my soul, and so is spending time in nature. I became a better person, I became less stressed and much less angry (dare I say even almost a little too zen sometimes), which in turn has made me a better parent and a better person. Lightning Round 1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know? I am actually terrified of water, and bodies of water, but I love kayaking. I love paddle boarding. I love going on cruises, but for some reason, I have this weird fear of water. 2. Who inspires you the most and why? I think it has to be my son he’s 11, almost 12, and everything I do is with him in mind. He inspires me every single day with just the little things that he does and the way he supports me and my business. 3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
