Host John Tarleton takes us through an election-night special edition as voters cast ballots in Democratic and Republican primaries for all statewide offices and all 150 seats in the NY State Assembly. In a heavily Democratic state like New York, the primary is often the race that determines the winner in the general election in November. We get an overview on some of the key races and issues from Ben Max, executive editor of Gotham Gazette and host of Max Politics on WBAI. We’ll also speak with Ana María Archila, Working Families Party nominee for Lt. Governor who some observers think could pull off the biggest upset of the night. In the third segment, we speak with Sumathy Kumar, co-chair of the New York City Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, which has emerged as a force in New York politics and is aiming to knock off some longtime incumbents and double its contingents in the State Assembly. We also had reporters in the field who asked voters about their selections as they exited the polls.
