Earned media remains valuable, whether it’s for your clients or for your own company. What are some of the strategies we can use today during Edmonton's recent changes in local media to have our stories told? Karen Unland discussed how this will change the way communicators pitch stories. No matter who is being pitched to, it’s more important than ever to think like an entrepreneur. Karen Unland is building her own media company after many productive and instructive years in mainstream newsrooms. She spent 14 years at the Edmonton Journal as a reporter and in various editorial roles, then left to teach and consult. In 2012, she came back to Postmedia, which owns the Journal among other newspapers, to co-found Capital Ideas, a community of business owners helping business owners by sharing what they know. Now she is embarking on a new venture, the flagship of which is Seen and Heard in Edmonton, a blog and a podcast about bloggers and podcasters in our maker-filled city.
