heliumTALK #33: Ben Venom (english edition)
heliumTALK - das Kunstgespräch - Ein Podcast von Jörg Heikhaus, Melvin Heikhaus

Ben Venom: that is not just one of the coolest names for an artist, he is also extremely unique in terms of his specific blend of technique and content. Ben is working with textile and a sewing machine, and he creates quilts and tapestry that look like stained glass windows made for the church of rock. That is that church that has no religion but loud guitars and a skate ramp. A magazine once called him „The King of Heavy Metal Quilting“, and that pretty much spot on. Ben Venom has been around for a while in the art world, his first exhibitions dating back to the early 2000’s, and he has shown with many highly recognized museums and large international galleries. It is often the case with artists who have a strong name in America that they are not yet as well-known in Europe, so if you are listening from, say Germany, please go check out a few of the links in the show notes of this episode. This episode was recorded using Zencastr, with Ben being at his studio in San Francisco and Jörg sitting at heliumcowboy in Hamburg.
