011. Expectations Suck

This episode, I'm coming at you in totally raw authenticity in the truth that I had a pretty bad week leading up to this, and it was really challenging for me to sit down in front of the mic this time around. This is more of a tangent-freestyle episode as I navigate through the difficulty of my own feelings, but the over-arching theme that continued to come through was that of expectations. Mainly, how much expectations suck. As a caveat to that, keep in mind that STANDARDS are different from EXPECTATIONS and I do think that having standards in our lives is an integral part of this human experience in order to hold ourselves in and operate from a place of love. However, that being said, there is indeed a fine line between standards and expectations and it is waaaaay too easy for us to cross. Trust me, I know it. So I talk about the difference between those standards and expectations, because the truth is - our expectations bring us hell on earth that we literally create for ourselves by having them in the first place. But don't be hard on yourself for having expectations. We all do it. And hey, if we never had them at all, how would we know that we create our own suffering? How else would we find our way to empowerment if we weren't first embodying disempowerment? The STANDARD I held myself to in this podcast was to always show up as my true self on my self-healing journey. The EXPECTATION I started to fall into recently was the image of that "showing up" always being perfect, eloquent, divine and awe-inspiring. But the thing is - it's not always going to be perfect, guys. I'm not always going to be perfect. Life is not always going to be perfect. That's what this podcast is for all of us.A space where we can be held, seen, supported and loved in the imperfection.A space where we are truly encouraged to JUST SHOW UP on the self-healing journey.
