She speaks to how she navigated foreign cultures and governmental systems as an expat, & shares her journey from a medicalized, torturous birth, to a birth-center birth, and then a wildly simple freebirth at home. We also discuss the disruption of her postpartum time by having to immediately interface with the system to obtain a birth record.
Chantal’s story is a lighthouse for the pregnant women feeling hopeless and who know there must be another way. Freebirth happens anywhere and everywhere, even in countries where most everyone believes homebirth is illegal.

*Sovereign birth = Birthing outside of the medical paradigm, inclusive of births with authentic midwives and doulas. We include many stories on the show where women birthed outside of the medical system with doulas and radical birth keepers. While these births are not freebirths, they are certainly sovereign births!
