OMD - Andy McCluskey (2023)

Andy McCluskey is a vocalist, bassist, songwriter, and one half of English electronic duo Orchestal Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). The band rose to fame with the single 'Enola Gay' (1980) and took another step with their third album Architecture & Morality (1981). After a few commercially less successful albums (ones that are appreciated much more these days), other half of the duo Paul Humphreys left in 1989, leaving McCluskey as the sole remaining member of OMD, before disbanding in 1996. OMD got back together in 2006 and have since released four new albums to a resurging fanbase. The latest is 'Bauhaus Staircase' (2023), and we spoke with McCluskey about the album, the two stints of the band, writing hits like 'Enola Gay', political songs, doing everything with energy, the value of art, and a lot more! Interview by: Robin HignellSupport the showThank you for listening!
