The Berne Podcast with Dr. Sam Berne - Ein Podcast von Dr. Sam Berne - Holistic Eye Health

This episode answers questions related to Cataract surgery and cornea detachment, fungal infection of the cornea, side effects of injections and the ocular microbiome, lazy eye, epiretinal membrane, the uses of MSM eye drops and Central Serous Chorioretinopathy. Question 1 0:00 - 10:51 Hello, Dr. Berne. I heard your podcast on Wellness Mama and I wanted to seek your advice. My mother who is 74 had cataract surgery which caused a cornea detachment. The doctors re-attached it, and also did a partial corneal transplant. This second procedure led to a fungal infection to the cornea.  The doctor then used steroid injections to treat the fungal infection, but it wasn’t getting better. He said they were going to have to remove the eye.   I found another doctor who gave us a second opion. He found that her eye had chronic swelling, and her best corrected visual acuity was 20/80 in that eye. She has coming back to his office every 10 weeks for further injections.  The doctor now says that it may take 2 years to stabilize the eye. Can you comment on the negative effects of injections and the ocular microbiome? What recommendations can you give us? Thank you. Question 2 10:51 - 22:24 Good afternoon! I follow you via email and Facebook. You offer wonderful interesting articles. I am a 63 year old, female who has dealt with lazy eye all my years.  Either eye will turn in depending on situations like stress, position, etc. I have never been able to get corrective lenses that aren’t too strong since the doctors cannot get accurate prescriptions because of the muscle/focusing problems. You are the first doctor that has mentioned about what I’ve learned, that I have no peripheral vision.  Wow! How can you help? I need to strengthen the eyes to work together and have just found your exercises for this. Night time driving isn’t possible and I suffer very tiredly after a trip in big box stores that use fluorescent lighting. Help!!  You mentioned a certain lens in one of your posts. Can you tell me more about them? Question 3 22:24 - 29:26 Good day! I have been diagnosed with an epiretinal membrane on my right eye. Can you suggest a natural approach to cure this?  Do you think your eye drops will help? Question 4 29:26 - 36:08 I have a question about my son.  Almost 2 years ago, he suffered a moped accident.  He broke two neck vertebrae, right occipital bone, left interior temporal bone as the impact was on left side of face. He’s a miracle. He was in a neck brace for a long time to stabilize his neck.  His left eye wouldn’t voluntarily close for many weeks. He’d have to tape shut. He was seen by a neurologist and he could not find the cause.  Over time he could then close eye at will. My question has to do with tear response when he eats and also, he shows a slight eye twitch. Should he be using the MSM drops faithfully?  Thank goodness his eyesight wasn’t impaired. A doctor had used some color therapy and eye exercises in the past but now he is attending medical school, and it is almost impossible for him to make appointments until this season is over.  Would you have any other recommendations? Also, we are now using the red light/near-infrared light therapy once...
