On today's podcast I am delighted to be speaking with Johnny Lappin who is a Music Publisher for over 40 years. He currently serves as Company Secretary of the MPAI (Music Publishers Association of Ireland), he is the Irish representative to ICMP (International Confederation of Music Publishers). He was the founder Director of IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) & served on the Board for 20 years. Johnny Lappin wrote The Need to Know Guide to Music Publishing, a reflection of his desire to educate musicians about the practical workings of the industry, and for ten years he founded and co-directed the successful Music Industry Xplained (MIX) course in conjunction with Hot Press. He won an Ivor Novello award for striking the publishing deal for Hozier's Take Me to Church.
