'People who have People Survive.' That's the message that Malcolm Phillips shared with us this week.  In today's episode Marvyn and Darwood speak to the Counselling Programming Lead for Hestia. Hestia is a charity that provides support for people and children in crisis. He has done a lot of work to make therapy more accessible to black people by opening counselling centers in London, developing a black therapy training course and he has also been providing mental health support for the Grenfell survivors since the disaster in 2016.   In this episode they discuss whether black people need therapy, the best way to access black therapists and alternative methods to have a healthy relationship with your mental health.   If you would like more information or are seeking a black therapist, the resources in the episode that were mentioned are:  baatn.org.uk (Black, African, Asian Therapy Network) ukabpsi.co.uk (UK Association of Black Psychologists) You can contact Malcolm at Hestia.org Dope Black Dads is place where we are changing the narrative and having progressive conversations about black fathers, as well as creating a safe digital space for the community.   Your hosts are Marvyn Harrison and Darwood Grace.  Join the conversation and community online through our social channels:   Twitter: @DopeBlackDads Instagram: @DopeBlackDads Facebook Page: @DopeBlackDads  If you want to get in touch with us, email us on [email protected] or follow our conversations in depth in our private Facebook Group by searching “Dope Black Dads.”
