Today we are talking about the 2000 David Mamet film State and Main. The film has a huge ensemble cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H Macy, Alec Baldwin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rebecca Pidgeon,Clark Gregg, Julia Stiles, Charles Durning, and Patti LuPone. It is a film about a small town that is taken over when a Hollywood film cast and crew descend to produce a film called The Old Mill. As Patti LuPone pointed out it is “an affectionate skewering of the movie business.
