Ep 15: A Dermatologist's Perspective on Clean Beauty

Dermatologist Talks: Science of Beauty - Ein Podcast von Dr. Teo Wan Lin

According to Dr. Teo, clean beauty isn't a scientifically accurate term because it is not possible for a stable cosmetic formula to be entirely without preservatives, in order for it to have a reasonable shelf life. Besides being a marketing gimmick, it can have dangerous connotations for individuals who may perceive that if a brand markets itself as such, it is safe and gentle on skin - which is not true. However, the positives that have come out of this movement include increased awareness of the environmental impact of the beauty industry. Our consciousness of our individual actions can make a huge impact on our self-identity as well as on the environment. In this episode, Dr. Teo Wan Lin shares her thoughts on this topic and why she prefers to use the term conscious beauty over clean beauty.  Want more of our podcast?
