Knock Knock! Who's there? Not Dad. Sudden loss and navigating family change; with Vanessa Mullin

We loved recording this hilarious episode with Vanessa! Originally from Canada, she's lived in the UK for four years. Her Dad died suddenly from a heart attack two years ago, after driving himself to hospital (!!). She was at work, in the UK, when she found out her Dad died; she describes the gruelling flight home - including kind hugs from strangers and someone trying to hit on her. We talk about navigating the change in family dynamics and realising that no one in her family had asked each other if they were ok. We also discuss changing friendships, crying at dogs and starting a relationship in the same month her Dad died. She gives some amazing advice on dealing with family, being away from home and feeling all of the feelings. As you'll hear, Vanessa is hilarious, and has the kind of twisted humour a lot of us love in the DPC.
