20- Good Pictures Bad Pictures with Kristen Jenson

In this episode I talk with children's book author, Kristen Jenson, about her book, "Good Pictures, Bad Pictures: Porn Proofing Today's young kids".

I have to admit, as a mother of young men this topic has terrified me and I avoided it at all costs, all the while knowing this is the reality of the digital world we live in and that our children are at risk for exposure to these kind of images no matter what lengths we may go to to protect them.

I was resistant to even approach the subject or the book, but once I read through it and sat down with my kids as well, I realized it wasn't teaching them about this awful world they may get exposed to but rather preparing them for what to do if they should get exposed to it.

We make a plan for fires, for strangers and other possible dangers and Kirsten's book is exactly that; teaching our kids to turn away, tell a trusted adult and name it for what it is.
