#3 Plastic free fruit & veg with Katie & Jamie Sawday of Fruutbox

In Episode 3 I welcome Jamie and Katie Sawday to breakfast as we discuss their journey establishing plastic-free fruit and veg box delivery service Fruutbox. Katie set up Fruutbox, with support of her husband Jamie, to fill a gap they had noticed within their own household: sourcing plastic-free, fresh fruit and veg with an emphasis on seasonal produce, delivered to the door with a flexible and user-friendly online ordering system. At a time when we can become disheartened by the scale of our collective environmental impact, it’s hugely inspiring to hear how Katie and Jamie took the issue of plastic-free food into their own hands, started small, and are now affecting not only their own household’s single plastic use, but that of many others too.     The conversation covers how we balance eating locally and seasonally with contemporary expectations of access to food year-round; understanding how our plant-based food is grown; minimising food waste; eating organic; and the ripple effect that occurs when we make a positive change towards sustainable living in one area of our lives. Check out the podcast web page where you will find more information about Fruutbox, a selection of recipes from our plant-based breakfast, and information about Episode 3’s two fantastic supporters – Horizon Inspired’s online meditation courses, and Lars & Margo’s coffee beans (along with discount codes for both): www.tiatamblyn.com/podcast I’d love to know your thoughts, do join the conversation, email me [email protected] or message via Instagram @breakfast_and_beyond Please do subscribe to the podcast, rate, review and share this episode with friends and family who would enjoy it – thank you!
