#1 Becca Stuart on Sustainable Floral Design

In Episode 1 I talk with Becca Stuart - floral designer, art director and founder of The Garden Gate Flower Company. Becca’s work is shaped by the seasons; growing flowers and foliage she creates art with nature through her floral designs for weddings and events here in Cornwall, along with teaching a global community of florists through her courses. Texture, colour and a desire to authentically reflect the seasons define Becca’s approach, along with using natural materials and embracing opportunities to celebrate other local artisans.  In this episode Becca shares the journey of The Garden Gate Flower Company, her motivation for growing organically and reflecting the natural world through her stunning, timeless designs. She discusses why collaboration with other local artisans is central to her work - as well as speaking very honestly about the vulnerability that she and her business have experienced over the past year.  Becca also speaks of the creative opportunities that have opened up in the face of Covid-19… oh, and growing cabbages in your flower bed.  Check out the podcast web page where you will find more information about Becca and her work, a selection of recipes from the breakfast table, along with details of local producers and growers whose fantastic food I cooked with: www.tiatamblyn.com/podcast Find me on instagram @breakfast_and_beyond I’d love to know your thoughts, do join the conversation, email me [email protected] or message via instagram.
