Why is Facebook owner Meta struggling?

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has seen its profits drop by half. Founder Mark Zuckerberg has moved the firm away from its traditional social media structure and instead focused on a virtual reality system called the Metaverse.
