'We should be prepared for the unemployment rate to increase significantly'

There was a big increase in the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in April - a month of lockdown across the UK. Those figures came out this morning giving us an indication of how the pandemic has affected livelihoods - the Office for national statistics has also released figures on UK unemployment which cover the first quarter of the year show the jobless numbers rising by 50,000.
