AvTalk Episode 157: They missed the deadline

On this episode of AvTalk, we get an update on the investigation into the crash of China Eastern Airlines flight 5735, lessors begin filing insurance claims for aircraft trapped in Russia, and a LATAM A320 joins the twisted gear club. China Eastern 5735 updates Both the Cockpit Voice Recorder and Flight Data Recorder have been recovered, but now the data must be safely extracted. We also discuss the status of the investigation and the ICAO Annex 13 participants. Russian airlines miss deadline to return aircraft With the 28 March deadline for Russian airlines to return leased aircraft passed, lessors this week began insurance claims for their purloined assets. The largest claim so far, from AerCap, stands at $3.5 billion. LATAM A320 grinds it out A LATAM A320 returned to Medellín shortly after takeoff due to an unsafe gear indication. The aircraft safely landed with the nose gear turned 90 degrees, which ground down the wheels.
