Getting across Africa by air is so difficult that passengers often have to detour via Europe, but there is now a renewed push to make African air transport liberalization a reality. After years of pushing for regulatory change, ex-IATA executive Adefunke Adeyemi has just become secretary general of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), the body tasked with helping liberalize African air transport.
